"A Renaissance Day Out in the Month of May"

Learner Objective:

Dear Educator,

Tennessee Renaissance Festival is proud to announce our 2014 Education Day for Middle Tennessee students. Our "Renaissance Day Out in the Month of May" will be held at the Tennessee Renaissance Festival Site on Friday, May 2nd, 2014 from 9:00am to 2pm (cst). This day is closed to general public for admission.

During the day's activities students can ride our castle tour bus to tour the first floor and grounds of Castle Gwynn, a full-size replica of the twelfth-century Welsh border castle. We suggest that, if you plan to tour the castle, you do so early in the morning to avoid long lines. Students will meet costumed Renaissance characters, experience period music, and enjoy period entertainment. Mounted armored knights will joust for your applause on the jousting tournament field. Artisans and crafters will present their unusual and unique wares for your shopping pleasure.

Our Renaissance Day Out is held in Tennessee's forest-covered hills. As this is an outside activity, students should dress comfortably and wear tennis shoes (no sandals or flip-flops). And of course, students are encouraged to attend in their own Renaissance costume. Please note, no purses, backpacks, fanny packs, tote bags, or camel packs will be allowed into the Festival. Students may carry their personal items (such as money, cameras, medication, etc.) in a clear Ziplock bag or other similar bag.

We were pleased with student enthusiasm during our past years' educational Renaissance events. As we enjoy sharing glimpses of a world long past, we hope that you can join us for this year's School Day Festival.

For safety and security reasons, our Renaissance School Day is for students, teachers, school-approved chaperones, and their bus drivers, only. We are unable to accommodate babies and children not yet in Elementary School on our School Day. Babies and children not yet in Elementary School are welcome to attend the festival during a regular festival day (May 3,4,10,11,17,18,24,25 and May 26-Memorial Day), but not on our designated School Day.

Educators can call us at (615) 395-9950, Monday through Friday from 10:00am - 4:30pm (CST) for School Day information or a reservation packet. Please note, all reservations must be prepaid by April 2nd, 2014.

Note: On our Festival Student Day only pre-registered schools and school approved chaperones with special festival entrance requirements are permitted - the Festival will NOT be open to the general public and no general tickets sales or other admissions will be honored.
